A Beach Baby Shower

A beach baby shower for baby boy

Is there anything sweeter than a baby shower? The purpose for celebration, the decor, the food, and the loved ones who come to help celebrate the arrival of your baby — it just doesn’t get any cuter! My sisters and fellow Tribe Magazine founders recently put together their own little beach baby shower for the upcoming arrival of my son, and — let’s have real talk for a second — they went above and beyond! I seriously think they may have missed their calling as event planners. And lucky for us, we have this amazing platform to showcase all of their creativity and the work of our AMAZING vendors — all thrown together for one marvelous seaside event.

It’s All In The Details

–Invitations–

We’re a sucker for stationary. There’s just something about receiving an invitation in the mail, vs. an email, that seems so much more personal and thoughtful. Plus, when you find a really good designer like Rachel Marvin Creative, the designing process is fun and the final product is gorgeous!

–Prints/Decor–

The whale inspired prints seen throughout the shower are the beautiful work of Artful Happiness. She truly added personality and fun to the decor with her signage, tags and fun dessert toppings. She was so easy to work with and truly helped our theme come alive with whales and beachy inspirations.

–Dessert–

Delicious and adorable dessert is a must at any baby shower! We worked with Yummy Cupcakes San Diego to bring our baby shower beach bash to life through creative dessert, and they were nothing short of amazing. From the initial meeting and planning process to the final outcome, Renato and his team truly went above and beyond to make this day extra special (and extra yummy!). The best thing about Yummy Cupcakes San Diego is that everything is customizable and there are numerous options to choose from, including: cupcakes, mini cupcakes, regular cakes, cakes in a glass, truffle pops, and more! And don’t even get us started on the flavors. When we went in for our tasting, it was extremely difficult to narrow down our flavors — everything we tasted was incredible! And with unique flavors like Blue Hawaiian and Summer Lemonade, you can guarantee a unique and delightful experience!

After much discussion we decided on the 8” double layer summer lemonade cake with a wave design, classic and mini Blue Hawaiian cupcakes, mini vanilla bean cupcakes with blue buttercream star tip design sprinkled with white and navy blue sprinkles, mini summer lemonade cupcakes with lemon butter cream star tip design sprinkled with yellow sugar and jellied lemon slices, sugar cookie cupcake truffles with navy blue sprinkles, blue Hawaiian parfaits and white chocolate sea shells sprinkled throughout the table. All we can say is…wow! Everything was delicious and gorgeous!

–DIY–

Although we couldn’t have pulled this off without our amazing vendors and professionals, a Baby Shower is not complete without a little DIY thrown in. Sticking with the beach theme, we picked up a wood stump at Michael’s and a wooden “G” (for Baby G, of course) at Target. We painted the “G” navy blue to match the rest of the decor and glued it onto the stump for a fun decor piece hanging above the table.

Since there were a lot of children at this Baby Shower, we made adorable peanut butter and jelly sandwiches shaped like little whales to match the decor. Cookie Cutter Kingdom provided the whale cookie cutters — they have an amazing selection of cookie cutters and customizable cookie cutters for every occasion and we highly recommend searching their products before your next event, birthday party, or just every day baking fun!

We also put together some little goodies for all of the kids – with fun chalkboard labeled silver buckets from Target, filled with plastic bags of Pirates Booty, Bubbles and salt water taffy.

Miss Jaimie Spitz hand-squeezed fresh lemonade and party lemonade (for the 21+ guests) and we’ll let you guess which one was most popular throughout the hot beach day! 😉

Finally, we wrapped biodegradable silverware in navy blue napkins, tied with a white life saver to compliment the baby shower beach theme.

–Thank You Cards–

Artful Happiness also designed our Thank You cards to send out after the event. We love the whale design she customized for us throughout the baby shower, and these Thank You cards were the final touch for a beautifully designed event.

I’m also a  huge fan of custom return address stamps. Yellow Fish Paperie always offers the cutest designs and is so easy to work with. Perfection!
